A Message From Our Co-Founder

I was pre-K age and in foster home, when I was adopted by my aunt. Seemingly an outcast and alone, somewhere between here and there I discovered books. A material text that literally gave me strength in times of great vulnerability, the characters becoming my companions, the new and cleverly worded paragraphs and sentences practically giving me superpowers.  Ever since, I've loved to read — both for fun as well as for stimulus, to improve my mind as much as to fight the many wars I would encounter in my long and volatile journey to manhood. And I'm always looking for the next great book.

Understanding that every great city and grand civilization must have a great library, I built Literati, on an old cheap device arguably when I was both hungry and in a haste—a place where I could build my own collections and see others' bookshelves and learn about what they thought of all their books. I wrote both the site copy and the code hack between creating a dozen other things during, needing to always keep busy my mind yet motivated by the belief that there was a better, more personal way to discover and discuss good books, and rather subconsciously that I would build it.

Library Literati is that site, but only by default, because no one helped me in the early days of my mission with Chum and I had to singlehandedly manifest everything from the gleam of my mind's eye. I can and will do better with v2. Watch.

Until then, knowledge is power, and power is best shared among readers in the Redlands .
