Never Let Me Go

Authors: Kazuo Ishiguro

In Gothic, Science fiction, Speculative fiction

By Ashley Massey

A strange, futuristic time that is now. A world too much like ours and too easy to comprehend. Characters who are us but not us. Never Let Me Go, by Kazuo Ishiguro, published in 2005, is difficult to review without spoiling what ought to be a slow reveal for the reader. I have no intention of spoiling anything here. The novel was praised by critics, who called it “graceful and grim,” “an elegant nightmare of a novel,” and “Gothic.” It has been referred to as “science-fiction,” though in most ways it is nothing like science fiction.

Flowers In The Attic

Authors: V. C. Andrews

In Horror, Gothic

By Allegra Goodman

The first and second books were a gift to me for my thirteenth birthday and I read both books in a week. I am in love with these books, even though all the tragedy and death were kinda depressing, its what made the book amazing. And then when Julian died I almost cried but that just proves its a good book. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes deep stories that keep you on your feet

Raining Boys

Authors: Emily Henry

In Gothic

By Ashley Massey

Because Emily Henry was not yet popular, few know of her truly early works and even fewer saw it. However, with the benefit of hindsight it's easy to see how she excited the reader before finding a measure of restraint. Me likey!
